All the essential materials needed to construct a television set existed in the time of the Pharaohs. What they lacked was any sort of inclination to watch TV. That and the invention of the thousands of parts inside the set and the theory to have them work in concert with one another. Even if they successfully managed to cobble together the set they of course would not have remembered to also construct a broadcast studio. But they could have invented all of it. It’s possible. I wonder who would have been their first TV star?
Civilization is a funny thing because while it is happening it is the hippest thing on the block. All the inhabitants of that modern society just wish they could go back in time to show those crude bastards how magnificent humans have become. They of course become obsolete themselves as soon as their kids come of age. Rinse and repeat the story gets told about every 6 months or so. We THINK we have everything locked down. We are so modern.
The reality is nothing ever really changes. If you ever want to test the theory just knock out the power grid. In about a month you will either be planning to build a pyramid or being forced to build a pyramid. Trust me when I say being a planner has a better benefits package.
Of course you could just be eaten.
I think next year I want to grow a garden. I’m notoriously lazy so believe me when I say this may not ever really happen. But I really like the idea of constructing my yard with angles and comfortable corners. I can work on the plans this winter. I think I may even sketch some ideas so I have a plan to go by.
Problem I have is that I tend to enjoy only thinking about being that person. So meticulous and careful. Every detail thought out. Hard work applied to the unruly knot. Hands scarred and a brow smudged with dirt. If only I could wake the next day and feel the same.
There is always music.
